SENSE - SEmantic N-levels Search Engine
SENSE is an Information Retrieval system, capable of exploiting the semantics attached to documents and queries in order to improve the performance of retrieval.
Does not dwell on one semantic aspect, but attempts to provide a more rich documents.
It was designed by the working group LACAM laboratory (Department of Computer Science, University of Bari).
Our task was to re-engineer the entire system, with the aim of achieving maximum scalability of the same.
In addition, we made an extension, enabling integration with ontologies.
The ontologically knowledge is used, in addition to indexing and retrieval, in customizing results based on user profile.
